365 Days to Create! March 10, 2009 135/365

3D modeling example: This is the sort of thing that my students learn in their first week of class with Autodesk 3ds Max. This is all basic box modeling (low poly count) without materials, lights, or anything else.

Photo composition example for Photoshop class I'm teaching this quarter. This is a tutorial from one of their books. Everyone gets this first picture (the gutted room) and then they add their own furniture to make it look realistic.

I had the awesomest birthday party - thanks Mat! My shuffle has a happy home in this pouch, made from vinyl with a plastic window.

Woo-hoo, I got a shuffle for my bday! First things first, I've made it a pouch to hang from a belt or bag strap. The window is plastic. This one is nice because it holds extras in the larger pocket.

Sketch for pencil holder from 2 days ago (I got these mixed up - this one came first.) The plant is some kind of succulent that grows in my kitchen windowsill.

Apple wood pencil holder. This is just lightly sanded, I like all of the texture in it. The leaves are painted on.

I made the smaller quilt blocks about a year ago, and combined them into this larger one. The shamrocks are appliqued on. It helps bring the piece together. I'd like to build on this to make a full quilt.

Second attempt at a seahorse, after looking at some pictures. Eyes are shell buttons and fins are accordian-folded ribbon. Stands about 9" tall.

First attempt at a seahorse, but without looking at a pattern or anything, it is more of a sea monster. I'm ok with that.

My new favorite wallet. This is the extra fabric from a placemat purse. I love using my old buttons and this one matches so well.

This, I love! Dog food bag = shoulder messenger bag. Completely recycled. The shoulder strap is adjustable and the flap fastens with velcro. If you want one - just give me a plastic dog food bag!

Butterfly? This was an attempt to make a freestanding butterfly from some heavy brocade fabric. The edges are a little too rough. The general idea is that this could be attached to other things.

One of my students came in with a pretty awesome round purse the other day and I had to try it. This one is lined with silk and has vinyl leather-look accents.

I'm back in the game! Here's a clutch I've been using for awhile now. I had made 2 similiar clutches for Christmas gifts, and heard they were very handy - and they are! I make them from a square of placemat. The other strip left over is the perfect size for a wallet.

Ah, my first blog post. I'm reusing a favorite vector of mine to get started.

As you may already know, 365 Days to Create is my personal creative project to make something every day for a year. I started in October of 2008 and am still going strong. There's been a bit of a lag lately as I make this transition - but its for the best!

I love comments! I'd love to receive criticism, happy thoughts, or questions!
